I am a chemical dependency professional. I specialize in the treatment of substance use disorders, formerly known as chemical addictions, also known as alcoholism and/or drug addiction. My work is specialized and the approach is targeted towards setting relevant, attainable goals while providing my client with the best possible recovery support.
I have had the privilege of working with the LBGTQIA community for the past 6 years in the specialized area of sobriety support and harm reduction. I see my clients as courageous people, working to improve their lives. My role is to provide the information, guidance and support they will need to meet their goals.
I utilize Motivational Interviewing (MI), Mindfulness and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) primarily. I am also educated and trained is several other modalities. The type of modality utilized is a professional decision that can change with circumstances and therapeutic outcomes.
As someone whose life has been touched by substance use disorders, I bring 36 years of understanding to this issue that go beyond my education or training. I work without judgment and with compassion for those dealing with substance abuse issues.
